Born as the third and last child of two Mexia Independent School District 5thgrade teachers, Ryan James Fite was raised to value education, taught the importance of community, and reminded that dreams are never too far away from reality.
Waking up early mornings and retiring late nights to the television news, a young Fite gained an initial interest in the journalism field. Being inspired by journalists John McCaa and Gloria Campos of WFAA-Dallas, Bob Wright formerly of the Mexia Daily News, Katie Couric, Oprah Winfrey, and practically everyone affiliated with KWTX-Waco CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and Current motivated Fite's appreciation of the journalism craft.
While attending Mexia High School, Fite actively participated in the University Interscholastic League's journalism competition, medaling nearly every event in which he entered. After noticing his gift of writing, Angela Ross, journalism coach/teacher, offered Fite a place on his school's newspaper, The Prowl, first transferring his dream into a reality. Serving as the paper’s Editor-In-Chief his senior year, Fite along with his fellow staff members expanded the viewership of the paper from high school students to the whole city of Mexia, Texas, which had never been done before in the school’s history.
After years of developing into a productive intellectual, Fite is ready to imprint a much-needed hand on society through his passion for journalism. Pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism degree at The University of Texas at Austin, Fite is expanding his horizons by receiving a valuable education from world-renowned professors and networking with future major players who all share the common personal goal of changing the world. In addition to curriculum, Fite actively volunteers to gain knowledge on television journalism through Texas Student Television's live news show, KVR.
Persevering through struggle and hardship along his journey, Fite has proven that he is firm in his belief that he will improve the way people live on a daily basis by uncovering problems and offering solutions for the prosperity of the human race. He is eager to learn, to investigate, and to communicate about subjects of all areas and backgrounds. He truly cares to be remembered one day as an inspiration and a positive impact on broadcast and multimedia journalism. Until his dreams come true, he will endure
